We are continuing with the series that has brought us into the Easter season entitled: “Jesus- the Passover Lamb.” Last week - Easter Sunday we referred to Revelation 5 where Jesus is displayed in full view following His ascension to heaven. This week, I've chosen 10 scenes where the Lamb is depicted in the book of Revelation, and I hope this will give you some insight into Biblical prophecy or “eschatology”.
Revelation 5:6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne…. stood a Lamb as though it had been slain…
This is the depiction of Jesus in heaven as the Lamb as He is presently. The fact that He is displayed as a Lamb is symbolic of what He has done for us at the cross. There is a scroll that the Father has, that needs to be opened which is the unfolding of end time events. This scroll is the redemptive plan of the Father and if it doesn't get opened then evil persists in the world and righteousness doesn't prevail.
After the Lamb – Jesus, begins to open the seals- all of the end-time prophetic events begin to take place that will lead up to the return of Christ. And following that, the Lamb – Jesus will reign in the New Jerusalem; the place that we know as heaven...and that will be spectacular!
The Bible says that there will be no more temple needed in the New Jerusalem because Jesus, the Lamb is the Temple and He will shine in all of His glory.
Revelation 21: 22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
This will bring to fulfillment the image of the pre-incarnate Christ who went before the people of Israel as a pillar of fire so that His people could walk whether by day or by night, and the words of Jesus who said: “I am the Light of the world” …. the Lamb will shine.
