We are continuing the series that we have started: “Teach your Children Well,” and the first thing that we want to teach them is how to love God. We have been using the life of Moses as an example of loving God…we’ve talked about the fact that Moses was seeking God. That he isolated himself from the others and that he desired to live in the presence of God. Last week we talked about the fact that he desired to see the beauty of the Lord. He prayed: “Lord, show me Your glory.”

And now this one final phrase taken from Psalm 27:4 – “to inquire in His temple”; to search out the deep things of God. To search out; is to know the will of God; to know the ways of God. Now, the temple or “tabernacle” was the place in Moses’ day where he went to inquire of the Lord. It was the place where the Lord met him in a pillar of cloud and gave direction to him…when the “cloud” moved, he moved and when it stayed, he stayed.

Exodus 40:36 Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys. 37 But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up. 38 For the cloud of the Lord was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

So how do we inquire of God in our sanctuary? Based on what we've read here, what is the method for us to inquire of the Lord - to search out the deep things of God - to live by the Spirit? The first thing to know is that we don't have to set up a temple; we are the temple, we are the sanctuary.

1st Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”

So as the cloud begins to move in our “temple”; that is, as the Spirit begins to speak to us, we must begin to move. How many days have been lost, how many opportunities squandered, how many destinies have died because we failed to launch out in faith. Perhaps, we reacted like the children of Israel, in fear, saying “what if ? “….. and we miss the opportunity that God has for us. I'm not promoting carelessness - I'm talking about moving in the Spirit, under the guidance and leading of the Holy Spirit…moving when the cloud moves.
